Well, there you have it, according to Bing.  Merriam-Webster says:

1. : the art or practice that seeks to foresee or foretell future events or discover hidden knowledge usually by the interpretation of omens or by the aid of supernatural powers
2. : unusual insight: intuitive perception

Well, at least they don't call us out on it LOL! Let's dig deeper.

Origins of Divination

The term “divination” originates from Latin divinare "to foresee, to foretell, to predict, to prophesy" related to divinus, divine, or "to be inspired by a god." It is the act of trying to gain insight into a situation. Engaging in divinations is the revelation of knowledge gained by somewhat supernatural and intuitive means. It is an ancient practice and art. 

Divination as we use it

There are more ways to divine than I can count. I scourged the web and picked those that looked interesting, and I could have written 90 days or more but in the end, I narrowed it down.

Divination not only calls on outside forces but inherently reaches into one's higher self. We may have a spirit guide for some styles of divination, call on spirits in others, or ask for a Deity's assistance in others but all-in-all, it is our higher self interpreting the information given.

Divination is anything you make it, any method you choose to make your discoveries. If you're feeling divinatory but the cards are not working for you and you don't know what way to go to meet your needs, hopefully, this month brings you some ideas. I've picked a few obsolete ways but many are things that can still be done today. Many can be modernized to do our own way.
